Located right off the sound and just a mile from the beach, it’s the best of both worlds. Kayaks, crab traps and a paddle board are included for you to enjoy throughout your canal front vacation. If lounging by the pool is more your style, we’ve got you covered too (pool is open and heated April 17th through October 31st)! Bringing your boat or jet skis? The dock is all yours! New for 2023 - HOT TUB!

Great Place
Perfect place to relax and hang out with friends. I would highly recommend the property to anyone looking for a relaxing time by the water. House was very comfortable and clean, everything you need is there, just bring your beach towels and food. Super convenient location for shops and restaurants.

Amazing stay
This house is amazing! We went from 50 some degree weather to 80 degree weather in one week and still enjoyed the pool every day. The hot tub was also great. The house had all of the amenities listed and then some. The location was also prime and the host was great as well. An awesome vacation all around.

Fantastic
This house is wonderful and the host is great. We will be back. Only negative is there could be more inside seating for meals. It was super hot when we were there and eating outside was uncomfortable Not enough to take away any stars. It’s a five!!

Had a Blast in Nags Head
Myself and a group of friends came in for a weekend wedding and had an amazing time! The house was fantastic. The woman who was cleaning thought the check in time was 5 instead of 4, so we did end up crashing her expected work hours a bit- but it was no problem at all, and the place was already in great shape!

Amazing OBX VACATION!

Beautiful roomy house perfect for family/friends getaway
Came here for a girls weekend and the space could not have been more perfect. Everyone got their own room and the kitchen-living room provided a great space for hanging out. Because of winter and COVID we basically relaxed here our entire stay and did takeout from local restaurants. The property also has a nice basement space where families with kids could use to hang out. Would stay here again!

Well equipped. Lots of outdoor equipment and indoor games. Weather was very cool, windy and rainy, not “beach” weather but we managed to take advantage of any breaks. Enjoyed our stay!

Great OBX Experience
The Happy Hicks home provided our family of 6 a perfect and relaxing home away from home while we played in the Outer Banks of NC. Positioned along the canals on the sound side of OBX actually offered more for our family of adventurers to do including kayaking, crabbing, and getting away from the hustle of the beach. Spacious and comfy living quarters with a beautiful deck, relaxing pool, and outdoor entertainment center tucked away in a quiet and safe neighborhood made for a wonderful experience. thanks Happy Hicks!

OBX Paradise
Our first time staying in the OBX and it was magical! The house is exactly as pictured. Everything was simple and easy.....booking, check-in, communication with homeowner. She even offered suggestions on things to do. I highly recommend this little piece of paradise!! It’s worth the drive just to see the sunsets from the porch. My family already wants to go back! 5 out of 5!!!!

Peaceful week
This is a beautiful, well-maintained cottage. The location is quiet and convenient. The pool was nice and overlooks a canal. The cottage includes kayaks and a paddle board for riding through the canals. All of the beds were comfortable. This cottage is the perfect place for.family vacation with bedrooms on various floors so everyone can stay together but still feel they have their own space. There is also a small dock with a boat lift.

Great vacation
House was very nice and clean. And we loved the outside with the pool and hot tub. The pool was a little too cold to enjoy but I think that is because it just cold weather while we were there. The only thing I did not like is that one of the bedrooms is at the main entrance of the house. Really not useable as you would have no privacy

Great House on the Sound
If you are going to stay on the soundside, this house is a great option. The home is refreshed and a nice size even for a large family. It has a great outdoor setup. Great views of the Sound "canals" and a great pool setup. We enjoyed kayaking and use of the paddleboards provided by the owner. Tried our hand at fishing and even crabbing. Beach was a 5-minute drive with a few close options for parking/public access. Owner was great and addressed a small problem quickly. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Time!
Our family had a great time at the property. Plenty of room for the 8 of us. Enjoyed the pool, hot tub, kayaks, grilling and relaxing in the evening either listening to the sound system outside or enjoying the views from the upstairs deck. Loved the kitchen and enjoyed cooking in it. There is currently construction going on next door but it really wasnt too bad as they were courteous in the morning. Could have provided more towels so we didnt have to wash as much, and one of the bedrooms was missing a top sheet. Overall, wonderful property. Would definitely recommend.

Overall a good stay
Beautiful property and plenty of space to relax and enjoy inside and out. We had a couple minor issues. Light bulbs burnt out in bathroom and on the deck, fan in master bedroom wasn't working. The upstairs AC stopped working our last night there which isn't anyone's fault, however 4 guest had to move and sleep elsewhere in the home because it was way to hot on the 3rd floor. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend! I would have to say that the checkout was a bit much. Not sure how I feel about having to remove all the used bedding and towels and placing in the basement, as well as emptying all the trash cans in the house, including bathrooms. We would never leave a mess but if your paying a hefty cleaning fee, I think some of this should be included.

Fantastic Family Vacation at Happy Hicks!
My wife and I recently stayed at Happy Hicks along with our 3 children (all under age 9). We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the house. The outdoor activities were endless...the swimming pool was warm/clean, the hot tub was relaxing, and the waterfront backyard provided endless hours of fishing and crabbing to entertain our kids. In all, we caught 18 fish during the week and was a real highlight for our kids. They are just learning to fish and it was a great way for them to learn. We used the kayaks and paddleboard a few times as well. So much fun. The house itself was also very nice, clean, and extremely spacious. The kitchen was fully loaded with everything we could need. The host provided great communication before and during our stay. We will be back, thank you.
