Kate's Guest House "Hidden Retreat"

Our guest house is a fully furnished 5 bedroom house located in a small town in the middle of Amish Country. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby for your enjoyment. A swimming pool, playhouse, swingset, and lots of room outside to sit and relax on the patio beside the pool. Two of the bedrooms lead out to a balcony.

The kitchen has a sliding door out to a deck. The family room has a wood burning fireplace, built in bookcases with lots of books and magazines, a TV and sliding doors leading out to a screened in porch. We also have an office with a desk and a couch that opens up to a bed which would give sleeping room for two more people. The dining room has a large table, ideal for groups, and also a smaller table w/4 chairs.

Awesome Get Away
Kate’s property was wonderful. The pool was a hit with all 7 of us. There was plenty of room to enjoy all of our activities indoors too. So glad we were able to come stay at this delightful place. Hope to return again soon!

Plenty of room and then some for a family get together. Some of the door locks were tricky and no lock on the back door made us uncomfortable being from an area where we lock our doors. The surrounding county side was really nice!

3 Day piece of Heaven
I truley cannot say enough about our stay here! The House was just amazing and Katy and her daughter that helps her mom with the house were both amazing as well so very nice!! This house is very warm and welcoming very clean!! The pool was the kids fun and the shopping is all very close and Amish working the land right beside the pool kids loved every once of our stay here ! The Smarties~

Beautiful experience
My family loved this place so much and we all want to return! The flow of the house offers the chance to visit and enjoy one another’s company while still maintaining their privacy as it is sprawling! There are several areas to congregate and socialize or get away and read! We swam in the pool which was fabulous and enjoyed the outdoor space as well. I can’t say enough about the kindness that was shown to us by Kate! Thanks so much! My little family needed that trip!

Relaxing Stay
The house was huge and spacious, and we loved the pool! During our stay we only used 4 of the bedrooms. There are only 2.5 baths for such a large house, I’m not sure how parties larger than 7 can manage to share so few bathrooms? During our stay we had a major fly problem! This was very off putting, especially around meal times. Overall the visit was pleasant but not worth the price per night for the worn down condition and outdated appliances/amenities.

So Much FUN!
This is in the heart of Amish Country. The house is extra Large and decorated beautifully. The cleanliness was impeccable. Everyone had a room and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen is large and there are several seating rooms and an outdoor screened in porch There was a Ninja coffee maker and the kitchen was well stocked with tableware.. The owner was so great and easy to talk with she was truly concerned about potential problems ( none ). It was hot so the pool was cleaned daily and the kids were in it most of the day. The kids reined in age from 15yrs.to 10 months and they had a blast falling asleep exhausted. According to the reception book many repeat familys and groups IMO that is a sign of a good host and facility.

Spacious but lacking
The house is spacious with a nice selection of beds. Fantastic to have a large dining table that 8 people can have meals together and a 4 seat table adjacent to the dining table for additional people. Great yard, pool and outdoor seating. If you are bringing children be aware that the pools DOES NOT have a lock on the gate, play set has some rot, indoor house stairs cannot be gated for infants and toddlers, the wash and dryer are COIN operated and the interior carpets are filthy. Amenities should be expanded on the listing, for example the coffee maker is drip style and coin operated laundry. We learned the day before that the dishwasher was not functional. After we arrived we noticed that the dishwasher had dirty standing water in it that began to smell. Owner solution was to put pool shock chemicals in the dishwasher! Overall the home need TLC.

We've had our family vacations here for several years and we always have a good time together. The house air conditioner has always been insufficient for the size of the house, but this year it broke down completely and we spent 2 days and nights without air; windows have no screens so we battled flies, and with horses and cows as neighbors, it was a fly fest. When we finally realized it was not just insufficient but no air I emailed the owner (no cell phone service) but ultimately had to go to the owner's house to report the problem. We were made to feel like either liars or idiots as owners continued to tell us it was working before and we were not doing something right. Finally convinced there was no air coming out of the vents, they called a repairman who fixed a broken belt. I realize problems happen and it wasn't the problem but the owners' attitude that I didn't appreciate. Oh, and no apology, the owner just wanted us to close up the windows before the repairman had the air back on. And, what does the VRBO service fee do for us? Nothing, obviously...when I tried to contact VRBO, there was just a message to contact the owner.

Spent a long weekend here with my kids and grandkids..everything about our stay was amazing!!! The kids loved the pool and the adults loved the house! We would 100% recommend this rental. Kate is wonderful to work with and very quick to respond when messaged! We will definitely be back next year!
