Quiet Cottage on 5 Acres Minutes From Mendocino and Ocean

This 700 square foot cottage is located on 5 secluded acres and was designed and built entirely by the owners. The cottage includes many special touches such as open beamed ceilings milled with local redwood. The cottage has tons of natural light. A gas stove provides cozy heat and ambiance with the push of a button. There are also electric heaters in the bedroom and bathroom for additional warmth. A Nespresso machine with pods is provided

Enjoy a hot outdoor shower for two, an indoor claw foot bathtub and a compact yet full kitchen. The bedroom is outfitted with a Queen bed. There is also a twin bed which is perfect for kids. The bedroom is situated on the upper floor with treetop and sky views. The bathroom and main living area is below and opens to redwood deck with outdoor seating. Please note the flight of stairs between the bedroom and bathroom.

We are very kid friendly. Let us know and we will get out our trikes and cars for your child. We also have a very friendly dog but she stays on our side of the property most of the time.

We are also happy to provide recommendations for dining, beaches, trails or whatever else you are interested in seeing.

Jackson State Forest is our next door neighbor. There is a trail that leads from the property into the forest and we will leave you a map. Located ten minutes north of Mendocino and ten minutes south of Fort Bragg and five minutes from what we think is the best beach in the area.

Great stay, exactly as described!
Property was just as described and exactly what we were hoping. Hosts were great and everything worked and was well stocked. Internet and wifi was great, we did not have cell service but we understood that going in. Location is incredibly secluded but close to many hikes, water activites and stores.Would definitely stay again!

Cabin in the woods
We had a lovely stay in this cute cabin. We stayed during a pretty stormy period, which was as fine with us. It is right between Mendocino and fort Bragg so it was easy to explore both. Hiking trails are literally right outside the door.

Everything was as the listing said. It was so quiet and relaxing. The tub was AMAZING as were the outdoor showers. It was close enough to Fort Bragg that we didn’t have to go far for great meals. The hiking and the beach suggestions were fantastic. We will be back for sure!!

Very private, quiet and lovely location.
We enjoyed our stay. They provided all we needed! The only downside for us was that the bedroom was upstairs and there is no upstairs bathroom. Not a problem for the young, but harder for us older folks.

Perfect Cabin Getaway
I visited this charming cabin with a dear friend from college who just finished five months of chemo. She is still immuno-compromised; we were looking for a restful stay near Mendocino where we could mostly cook in house and take side trips as her energy permitted. This charming cabin midway between Mendocino and Fort Bragg was perfect. Lovely tranquil setting and the ability to walk directly out into the Jackson Forest from the property. Tasteful decor, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a large and luxurious bathroom with a clawfoot tub. All impeccably clean. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and a basket of snacks, a nice touch that we really appreciated. And the hosts immediately answered our one minor question. The cabin is peacefully secluded but only minutes from both Mendocino & Fort Bragg. We bought organuc vegetables from Corner of the Mouth in Mendo & fresh fish from Princess Seafood in Fort Bragg & cooked in the cabin. A delightful stay! Thank you to our wonderful hosts! Charming Cottage in the Pines
we found this cottage to be a perfect getaway. It was clean, well stocked and charming. The bedroom which is upstairs has a tall ceiling and many windows making you feel like your sleeping in the pines. The bed was comfortable making it hard to get out from under the covers in the morning. The wood stove worked well, and we fell in love with the outdoor shower. Our family has allergies which means no pets, so I loved that Molly would wander over occasionally and sleep on our deck - having a dog with no responsibilities! The location worked well for us since we spent an equal amount of time in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Our favorite area hike was Jug Handle, and we also liked visiting the Cabrillo light house. Also, nice to be able to take a hike without getting in the car with lots of trails starting from the road in front of the cottage. Hope we get to come back some day!

Perfect Spot!
My husband and I were looking for adventure for our 8th wedding anniversary, and the Madden's provided the perfect spot! It was a quiet and secluded for us as a couple, but I could see families having a blast here too. The cabin had everything we needed and was beautiful and clean. We like our privacy, and some clever landscaping plus respectful owners gave us just that even though the main house was close. The bed was especially comfortable, and the outdoor shower really is as cool as you hope it will be. The nearby trail at the property line was awesome for a run and led out to the redwoods quickly. We really loved the location. Fort Bragg has lots of fun things to do, so we loved that we were so close. In June, there was some tourism happening in Fort Bragg, so it was equally great to have our cabin in nearby Caspar where there were less people when we wanted more privacy. We even had Jughead Beach all to ourselves for sunset - amazing! Lots of hiking, beautiful sunsets, cute shops, great food, scenic drives, and so much more. We really enjoyed our time at this little cottage and wouldn't hesitate to revisit.

This is a charming property off the beaten path.
This property is in the woods east of Caspar, but only minutes away from multiple public beach accesses on the Mendocino coast and to the towns of Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Although the owner's house is nearby the rental is situated to afford privacy. Jake and Lindy were very responsive to all of our needs from the time of booking to our departure, yet respected our privacy. On arrival we found a warm pellet stove, lights on, breakfast goods and clear information about the cottage.( Be sure to print the directions, though, ahead of time as google maps will not be available.) Highlights were the many windows, deck that was sunny mid-day, a deep tub for soaking, or a refreshing outdoors shower both with plenty of hot water, comfortable bed and nice walking/hiking/biking right from the property. It was perfect for us, but there are stairs and the kitchen which again was fine for us is small and had we been cooking for several people, may have been a challenge. However, there are many nearby restaurants and grocery stores. Don't miss the Russian Gulch walk, Jughandle beach, Point Cabrillo Light house, the headlands in both Mendocino and Fort Bragg and although it's about an hour's curvy drive, the Montgomery Woods are worth the effort. Quiet cottage oasis
We really loved the cottage, from the beautiful setting to the many thoughtful details inside. We had cool weather and the gas heater worked wonders. The guest book with history of this hand-built cabin was fascinating, and the owners greeted us warmly when we arrived. A perfect stay.

Magical
This property is a gem. So secluded and quaint. Well appointed but not overdone. The outside shower was a little scary at first but once I was under the trees in that very private shower enclosure I was HOOKED. It was awesome. Took a nice long soak in the claw foot tub. Plenty of hot water for a cabin and the temperature controls and kitchen amenities are updated. The owners were on site but gave us complete privacy. Thank you Jake and Lindy, was a true gift to spend our anniversary in your cabin. ♥️
