"I very much enjoyed using this as a "home base" during my week on Oahu. If it seems a little "off to the side," Oahu's big, but not that big. The *furthest* point form the unit, the Northeast of the island, was only two hours away. And the driving views every where... gorgeous. The unit itself was clean, Ms. Bruneau was easy to connect with, and the place was secure. Wondered whether my car would get broken into at some places I visited on the island, but not in the Makaha Valley complex. The security staff are front and present at the entry/exit gate. I got a "hello" and "goodbye" every time I traveled past them. There's no *dedicated* parking spot, so every time I left I had to look for a space when I returned, but I didn't once have to slog from "too far" away. Oh, and they asked for a cash deposit for the parking pass. It's plastic and they want it back. I got my C-note back when I turned it in. The unit's all glass on the outside wall, with blackout curtains if the sun's too bright. Chairs on the balcony are comfortable. TV's got cable, and the unit has working wifi. The kitchenette's fully stocked; no need to buy dishes, glasses, or flatware. Complex has gas grills for anyone to use, so if you're into buying fresh food and grilling it yourself, it's easily doable. Pool's nice too. Surf warnings were in effect most of my stay, and the pool made swimming possible. It's well maintained. If anything, the owners *undersell* this place, in my opinion."

"Enjoyed our 28-day stay at Makaha. Nice condo unit. Spacious bathroom. One of the best we've had in 4 years with VRBO. Laundry is conveniently located on the same floor. Management staff are friendly and helpful. Like that there is 24/7 security. Condo location is a bit further than we like, but it has all the amenities we needed for our stay. "We had a great, relaxing vacation here. It is a distance from nightlife and restaurants, but the isolation and beauty is tremendous. The house is decently stocked with cookware, dinnerware and sharp knives! There are a couple of local grocery stores nearby, and major shopping is a half hour drive East.The beach directly in front of the house is steep, so the surf hits it fairly hard. A shallower, gentler beach is 100 meters west. On calmer days, we saw residents swimming across the bay at Makaha Beach Park. Surfers were active at Makaha Beach every day. There are few visitors to the beach in front of the house, so you get a lot of privacy.There is only one road into Waianea, and it can get crowded at rush hour. There are also homeless encampments on the beach that can be seen on the way to the house, but no one bothered us that far West. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards from further down the beach, and you will see them about twice a day on quads.Highly recommended, if you want peace and quiet."

"We started for a four night trip in January. The condo was comfortable and well stocked (especially the kitchen). Ken was a great host and allowed us to check in early, which was super helpful. The waves were a little rough for swimming at this time of year, but the beaches were beautiful and the condo was a great "base camp" to explore the island. We didn't know before coming that we can't drive from Makaha directly to the northern shore so that is something we'll consider for future trips, if we're lucky enough to return. However, a little planning was all it took to have a great time. "
