You could literally see where the ball drops on new years right from our window. The heat/ AC didn’t work, but that was ok, we just popped open the window and it stayed the perfect temp. "I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in January 2025 and was glad I chose it. The front desk at check-in was congenial and efficient and answered the few questions I had and allowed me to check-in early. My room was well arranged, very clean and up to date. I really appreciated that the windows had two blinds: one for total blackout darkness and another more sheer to allow light in but still provide privacy. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very clean, too, and had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Wi-Fi was quick and stable. The only negative was sound penetration of the room. The door allowed more noise than I expected to come in whenever anyone left or returned to the room next door. Happily they weren't coming at odd hours so there was no real impact on the quality of my stay. Similarly with the sound of water from, I assume, the shower running in the room above or adjacent to my own. It was surprisingly obvious but, again, not at times that impacted my sleep, etc. Another complaint not about the room but about hotel policy is the ridiculous "resort" fee. The Westgate is a fine hotel and I enjoyed my stay immensely but a $40US non-optional fee is ridiculous, especially since it only covers bottled water, wi-fi and the fitness centre. In 2025 wi-fi isn't a luxury at a hotel, it's as basic a feature as a bed and shower. The Westgate is a fine hotel and shouldn't have to resort to sham resort fees. Still, I had a great stay and would stay again. "
