Gorgeous Oceanfront Retreat on Penobscot Bay

Built in 1912, this charming Maine costal house has been the vacation home for 3 generations of the same family. Together with the two bedroom/one bath carriage house on the property (an extra charge of $800/week if you'd like to add it), this retreat is now available to rent for larger gatherings. We can accommodate 10 in the main house with the carriage house accommodating 4 more.

Perched on a hill a few minutes walk from the historic costal village of Bayside, the main house offers 300 feet of private shore frontage. From nearly every room of the house views of the majestic Penobscot Bay stretch out before you.

The main house, an arts and crafts turn of the century home, has been left untouched, only restored and updated by the same family. On the second floor it features 5 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large family media room (with a queen sized sofa bed) and a open landing that doubles as a play area under vaulted beamed ceilings. The master bedroom features a fireplace and a generous bathroom - with a shower and separate tub overlooking the sea. Each bedroom also comes with high quality linens and 2 renovated shared bathrooms. The media room comes equipped with apple tv, Direct TV, Netflix, and VHS/DVD with an array of movies to keep everyone entertained.

On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen with a large double oven/stove, communal table, dishwasher and an incredible modified ice box that is original to the house and functions now as a very large fridge . There are plates and cutlery along with every form of cooking utensil. Adjoining the kitchen is a separate bar/wash area with microwave. The adjacent dinning room is astounding with a large arts and crafts table overlooking the porch and sea with a working fireplace. The living room comes off this, with comfortable leather club chairs and sofas around another large fireplace. There is also a home office with printer and desk. There is high speed internet throughout the house. Each of all these rooms leads to a wrap around covered porch that beautifully frames the ocean view complete with white wicker furniture along with a teak picnic table perfect for outdoor dinning. In the basement there is a laundry room with washer and dryer. There is also an abundant supply of fireplace logs in the basement, as well as a second, modern fridge.

Surrounding the house are lush gardens and lawns complete with a fire pit. The front lawn comes with a full turning circle and multiple parking spaces. The front gate is made by a local artist in the Adirondack camp style. We've left a ping pong table on the porch for your enjoyment.

To the left of the house is a separate guest carriage house with a self contained apartment above it. There are 2 double bedrooms, living room, a self contained kitchen and bathroom complete with a shower/bathtub. This is perfect for a small family or friends wishing to join in on a holiday but also allowing them to have their own privacy. There is an additional fee of $800 per week of the use of the 2-bedroom Carriage House.

There is a private walkway and stairs down to the beach from the bottom of the garden where you can enjoy the lovely Penobscot Bay. Sit on the large deck and spot porpoise and seals, beach comb, kayak, or swim, as the bay is normally wonderfully calm.

Nice House and Property
The house was at a great location, near Belfast and not too far from Camden/Rockland. Good for kids. The house was very large and old-style classic. The porch was huge and great, old school. The property was very nice, access to rocky shore was good, but with a lot of steps. The plumbing was old but clean and the lighting was also old. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed to cook and more. The host was very good and responsive, we had no problems and had a nice stay

Perfect Penobscot Bay Views
Summer gathering of well-dispersed family made for happy memories on the massive porch overlooking the bay. Quirks are all as advertised and contribute to the charm and ambiance. Proximity to Belfast and Camden a big PLUS!! Great kayaking, too, from the perfect stone beach. Steep stairs are not for sissies.

Beautiful home on the water
We had a delightful time staying at Bayview Farm!!! It is a lovely old home full of charm in a quaint village close to picturesque towns. It has the most amazing deck with an ocean view. That is where we spent most of our time playing, relaxing, reading, and eating. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything you need for family meals. The bedrooms are plentiful and easily accommodated my extended family. It's truly a magical place to stay!

Maine Family Vacation
Each summer our extended family gathers in a new spot for a week together. Last year it was Vancouver Island, and this year we chose the Maine coast. Three generations enjoy time relaxing and outdoors, and this year the Maine house was perfect for us. Beautiful porch overlooking the Bay; nice beach for the kids to play in and for all of us to kayak. Plus, an extremely well-equipped kitchen for my daughter who loves to cook for a crowd. I could have spent all summer exploring the very cool house, comfortably furnished and with unique local furniture. A treasure!

Gathering family and friends
Excellent location, near Belfast but in quiet Bayside. Fantastic, spacious old summer home with authentic antique vibe. The porch had a gorgeous view and was an amazing place to hang out. Stairs down to the pebble beach were steep and long, but worth the effort. There were minor issues with plumbing, but that’s to be expected with a vintage house, and hosts were quick to respond and correct. Our group of 8 had an enjoyable time making memories at this place!

Beautiful Maine Home
Suzanne was a wonderful host, and the property was very unique, historical and beautiful. The porch overlooking the ocean was the place to be when not in front of one of the many fireplaces. Surprisingly close to restaurants, bars and things to do.

Best Porch in Maine!
We had a group of 5 couples from college get together and we had the BEST time! The house was charming and the views from the back porch and dock were two of the most beautiful scenes imaginable. A lot to do in surrounding towns but access from highway is easy. Suzanne offered a lot of ideas and help of things to do in the area as well. Can’t recommend this place enough for a group!

Perfect spot on the bay
We had a wonderful stay at this classic old Maine house. Great location - away from the crowds on the water. Spectacular porch with view of boats and the bay. Rooms were large and comfortable. We and our adult children were able to explore the area and look forward to coming back to our lovely old house. We spent a night before Hurricane Lee with wind howling, but the house was stable and quiet. Suzanne the host was ver accommodating and concerned fir our welfare and made sure we were happy and safe. We would love to go back any time and highly recommend this rental.

Family vacation
Great location for family vacation. Fantastic back porch used for morning coffee and evening drinks, ping pong tourneys and relaxing dinners. Quirky older home with lots of nooks to discover. Large enough that eight adults could easily find a quiet space to work or read or just get away from everyone else. Easy access to beach (steep steps but with hand rails all the way).

Stunning View
We spent virtually all of our time on the wonderful porch overlooking the bay. It was mesmerizing and we loved every minute of it. A pair of eagles flew past regularly at eye level, which was really special. Suzanne was exceptionally helpful when we had questions and was a fantastic host. We had a magical time in Bayside.

multi-generation family vacation
We picked the perfect house for our first trip to Maine! The house was ideally located on a pristine bay with clear and calm water. It has the best porch I have ever seen in any house, anywhere in the world- absolutely spectacular views of the bay. The best place to drink your morning coffee, eat all of your meals, play ping pong and have your evening drinks! The house was well-furnished and had everything we needed. We also rented the carriage house for the week for the extra space because there were so many of us. The small adjacent village of Bayside is a delight and nearby Belfast has everything you need without being overrun by tourist kitsch.

Celebrating 50 years of marriage…..
This property is “ a little slice of heaven”. We had planned to check out other areas, but everyone wanted to stay there and just enjoy the view. The house had everything we needed, including games, etc. We were celebrating 50 years of marriage with our entire family and I must admit, I couldn’t have found a better spot. I’m hoping we’ll get back there someday.

Nice property; perfect for family gathering
We enjoyed our stay, as the house was perfect for a family gathering. Views were outstanding and good location for day trips to multiple towns for shopping, beaches, boat trips, etc. The house was very charming, with the porch being the primary gathering space for peaceful views of the bay, sunrises and family meals. There are many unique features in the house, that you will quickly discover which also add to the house’s charm. Being that this is summer, there is some humidity and bugs in the evening, so we opted to pass on the outdoor fire pit. However, we did enjoy seeing lightning bugs almost every night. Beach area is rocky, but very peaceful. There is a nice deck with chairs to enjoy the view. In regards to the house, rooms/beds were comfortable. With all BR’s on second floor, you will get your daily steps in! Living spaces in the house were comfortable, although they could use better lighting. House was well stocked (almost cluttered) with small appliances, kitchen gadgets, cleaning supplies, etc. In general, house could use a good spring cleaning and some minor repairs to improve overall experience. Also, chimneys could also use a good cleaning. We had to close the flues to help minimize the smell from the soot. Carriage house was nice, but has one electrical outlet which is for the fridge. This made using the coffee pot and microwave a little bit of a challenge. Host was very responsive to all questions and one minor maintenance issue. A visit to Maine and renting this house was a nice departure from our typical NC summer beach house rentals.

Northport waterfront home.
Overall very pleased. Lovely 110 year old house and fantastic location. Plenty of room. Wrap around porch was amazing - we spent much of our waking time sitting and enjoying the views of the water and islands. We ate nearly all our meals on the porch at the large dining table provided. Donna was a wonderful hostess, very accessible and attentive. She and her crew did a fine job getting the house opened for the season for us as first guests this year. Did have some issue with mice droppings - not surprising in a house of this age closed-up for the winter. But in general the house, including the bathrooms and kitchen were clean and comfortable to use. Plenty of kitchen equipment, utensils, etc. Only lacked a Keurig, but we just brought our own. Plenty of refrigerator space and the washer and dryer in the basement was handy. We would definitely rent this property again for a family vacation.
