"This is our third time staying in this hotel, and we are likely to stay here again next time we visit Cambridge. Since it's located in an industrial park, the hotel is not close to any tourist attractions but it is inexpensive. Cambridge is only about 15 minutes away by car, so it's quite convenient. The rooms are all spacious enough for a short stay, and are modern -- power outlets everywhere; large shower with plenty of hot water; very comfortable bed; choice of firm or soft pillow; effective heating/cooling. Breakfast is quite extensive and good quality, with vegetarian options available upon request. They also have two microwave ovens in the lobby for guest use, and there are several nearby supermarkets that sell microwave dinners. Parking can be tricky when the hotel is full, but the parking lot is well-lit and quite safe. The staff are all very helpful and cheerful -- we were pleasantly surprised by how ready and willing they were to help us with any little request. This is definitely a good choice for the budget-conscious traveller who doesn't want to compromise on comfort. "

"Breakfast was the best thing about our stay. The rooms are basic but clean and fairly comfortable. No air conditioning and they have locks on the window allowing you to open it about 5 inches. Parking is very tight and limited (about 10 parking spaces). Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. I would stay there again but not in the summer. Amazing breakfast, part continental with fresh pastries and fruit. Cooked to order hot food was great. The bar has good beer selection and mixed drinks. Dinner was very good."

"This hotel is stunning, with very high standards of decor and cleanliness and opposite the station. The beds and pillows were like fluffy clouds, which was perfect for our 2 night stay. The staff were all a credit to the Hotel, although we did feel that there should have been an extra member of staff on Reception at all times, as often there was no-one there to take calls as the Receptionist was so busy with checking in/out and dealing with other issues and a couple of times there was no answer when we phoned Reception from our room. This is an extremely busy Reception hotel and too much going on, to have just one person behind the desk. We also dined in the Hotel Restaurant where we had a 3 course meal, the food was exquisite, especially the Crispy belly of Pork. All the lovely shops, restaurants and punting on the River Cam were a leisurely longish walk away. I would highly recommend a stay at the Clayton as I cannot fault it in any way."
