Fairfield is a delightful, two bedroomed Edwardian cottage all on one level. It is situated on the Northern shore of Loch Fyne, has panoramic views of the loch & the surrounding hills and is ideal for doorstep walking up into the hills or along the shores of the Loch. It is also a perfect base from which to explore the West Highlands.
The cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard which successfully combines the convenience of contemporary living with the warmth and comfort of a cosy cottage. Many of the original features are retained, including high ceilings, doors and fireplaces. Whatever the weather or time of year, the wood burning stove in the sitting room (an addition to the central heating) ensures the cottage remains warm, inviting and very welcoming after a day on the hills.
The cottage has been furnished with a fine eye to detail, from the restful/understated colour on the walls (Farrow and Ball), to comfortable beds, fine linen and soft furnishings which reflect the Highlands.
There is a local village store/post office within five minutes walking distance where you can buy newspapers, eggs milk bread etc. The nearest supermarket is in Inveraray.
The area is well known for its fine food and produce with Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and Inverawe Smokery being close by (around 45 minutes by car).
Furnace is only six miles from Inveraray. With the famous Inveraray Castle and Jail it's a “must do” visit”. The Loch Fyne Hotel -on the outskirts of Inveraray, offers a great Spa day if the weather is inclement.
Lochgilphead, Crinan Canal, Kilmartin Glen and Oban (the Gateway to the Isles) are all within 20-60 minutes drive. Taking a ferry to Mull and/or Iona ( Iona Abbey) makes for a fabulous day out.
A home from home with a multitude of things to fill at least a week, Fairfield is a wonderful place in which to unwind, relax and explore the immediate countryside or further afield.
Haste ye back!
