Great time at Calypso

A wonderful stay over the holidays. Lots of great times at Captain Frenchy, Rainbow Cafe and other restaurants/bars along Grand Case. Beach and water are wonderful. Will definitely come back again.

Amazing stay, we will be back

Absolutely Beautiful and spotless clean two floor penthouse with front ocean views and direct beach accessibility. So comfortable, walking distance to shops, stores, pharmacy and top restaurants. The house is in between two very lively bars so if you want peace and tranquility, this is not the place for you. We won’t stay anywhere else, this is officially our place, we do hope the owner will get a softer mattress before we come next time lol! Kids slept like angels though. Thank you for everything. Shout out to captain frenchies!

Amazing location

Six of us stayed here over Christmas and New Years. We absolutely loved it. The condo is located right on the beach in the heart of Grand Case. Couldn’t be in a better spot. The restaurant next door, provides free breakfast and chairs. The only negative is the noise from the two adjoining bar/restaurants — they play loud music at night. But the trade off the location was worth it! The deck was amazing, and the rooms were spacious.

AMAZING!

I came here with 2 of my friends for a girl’s trip and we were all astounded by this amazing property! Beautiful beach views, easy access to many restaurants and bars, breakfast at Frenchies, and tasteful beach decor are all selling features of this terrace! The property was very clean, we were greeted at the door to receive the key and shown around the property, and check-out was a breeze (minus the fact we didn’t want to leave). We would definitely return here and recommend to anyone looking for an amazing beachfront property in grand case!

Really enjoyed our stay. The location is fantastic. Walking distance to the wonderful restaurants of Grand Case. The terraces and views are outstanding and the apartment itself was really well laid out. The upstairs bedroom is pretty much a separate apartment with its own living room. Free breakfast and chair rentals at Captain Frenchy really worked out! Great beach bar! The beach itself was fun (lively and great people watching) and the swimming was wonderful. The music from Rainbow Cafe is there during the day (definitely NOT quiet) but it is quiet after about 11:30pm. I can’t wait to go back 😀!

Outstanding property!

We stayed in the ground floor apartment (2 bedrooms) and the place was great!! The convenience was phenomenal — beach just steps off the porch, Captain Frenchy next door, along with the Rainbow Cafe. A great bakery is just across the street, and small supermarkets were within 100 yards, at most. Grand Case is still recovering, but there are plenty of great dining restaurants for dinner! And, our hosts were great and attentive to anything we needed, which was about nothing!

Only issue is that we ran out of toilet paper. No soap provided in shower or wash rags. Not enough linens and bath towels. The electric went out several times and no water last night. Other than that the location is a dream to wake up and go to bed every night seeing the ocean. Can't beat the sunsets.

Amazing location in Gand Case

This beautifully decorated and appointed condo has everything you need for an incredible stay in Grand Case. The property managers were so kind and helped us with everything we need. You are situated right in the middle of night life. Captain Frenchies next door does play music later into the night on select nights. So, you will hear that sometimes until midnight. It’s right next door. However, you get free breakfast there every morning during your stay. If you don’t mind some music in the evening, this is the place for you. I will definitely be back! I can’t say enough great things about this place and the property managers. 5 stars all around!!!

Good Location - as advertised

Great location - right on the beach - good layout for party of 6 - we were all adults but would suit all generations. AC works well, nice privacy shutters - well appointed bathrooms. Would give overall a 5 star but the loud music next door until 1am was a bit much! 11 ok but not 1am and might have been different if they changed the beat once in a while! Also when using the oven the breaker would trip but I’m sure they will look after it! Good walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars - breakfast included at Captain Frenchy below so that was a bonus as was the elevator to the unit! Overall good stay.

Gorgeous condo, lively neighborhood

The condo is just beautiful! Big open sliders to the ocean, spacious rooms, double bathroom sinks, a deck with table and lounges, all looking out on the ocean. It even has an elevator which can be handy at times since the stairs are generous spiral stairs. Christophe, the manager was delightful and a great communicator, so everything went smoothly. The location is right in the middle of the night life on Grande Case. There are two French bakeries within feet of the condo, a French pharmacy within view and of course all of the amazing restaurants up and down Grande Case. The beach is gorgeous and worthy of a daily walk. I thought the beach in front of our condo was going to be quiet with just a few chairs, but there must have been 30 or more chairs and umbrellas tightly lined up by 8am. It was packed. The music ……. This condo is located between Captain Frenchy’s Restaurant and the Rainbow Restaurant. They are both great places for drinks and food. The challenge for us was that they both blast out music, generally starting around 1pm and can go until 10 or 11pm, almost every night. If you like this sort of thing, you will love this location. It is a party scene and full of life. You can get drinks and food on the beach just below our patio. Sweet if you like that kind of thing. I knew there was a restaurant next door, but I was surprised just how evasive it was. There you go, your choice!

Beautiful, comfortable apartment with gorgeous views

We loved our stay here. Every bedroom has a really comfortable king bed with its own bathroom. The views are phenomenal and panoramic. Pretty beach is right outside the elevator, so going up and down is quick. Easy to walk around the corner to supermarket and a great french bakery every morning for fresh croissants or delicious sandwiches on french baguettes for lunch. Lots of superb restaurants in walking distance, and we always felt safe. Christopher, the apartment manager, was very helpful anytime we needed anything. It was so convenient to have restaurant/bars on either side of us. Both Michael at Capt. Frenchy's and John at Rainbow were happy to serve us drinks and/or lunch on the chairs with umbrellas that sat out front. The waitress at Rainbow even brought our frozen drinks up to our room for us when we first arrived and were bringing up the bags! If you are six people, a Ford Explorer is a good bet--it fits in garage if you drive in verrrry slowly. It may take a few swings to get it in the space, but really nice to have free parking right there. Yes, there was a late-night party one night that was loud, but they give you the option to come to it, each with a free drink, or they will provide a free breakfast. My teen and young adult daughters loved the party and danced on the beach! Two other nights there was a singer (drag show) until 11, but it was quiet otherwise. We did bring some earplugs, so it was not a problem for us. This apartment is such a great value. To have a luxurious three bedroom suite right on the beach for the price of one luxury hotel room is amazing. Great place for a family reunion as you can rent the lower floors too. There is a washer but no dryer, so takes a day for your laundry to dry. You will be happier if you bring one spare towel for each person.

A beautiful but un-rentable disaster

I really don’t want to write this review, but I do feel obligated to let people know the pros and cons of this vila. Yes, the apartment is as nice as the pictures. It’s big, clean and right on the water. The Grand Case area offers the convenience of many good restaurants so it was nice to be able to walk down the beach and pick a new restaurant for every meal. This could have been a five star rating but unfortunately there were two big surprises that destroyed our stay The first was the amount of noise at night. Calypso is surrounded by at least 5 bars. Three are next door neighbors and at least two more are across the street. Wow, I wish we knew that before we booked. It was a NewYear’s holiday, so we expected some noise, but nothing prepared us for what we endured. The first five nights it was like were at a rock concert. Bars blasted music until 3 am or later. At 2am on the second night I emailed the owner of the villa to complain about the noise. She replied that it wasn’t normal and she reassured me that the rest of the stay would be quite. That wasn't true. The loud music continued up through New Year’s eve, which was an all-night long party until 6am and then a parade started at our apartment and slowly meandered down the beach until 7am. After 5 sleepless nights we had had enough. We called the management company again and tried to cancel our trip. We shopped for other accommodations and we called Delta to change our return flight but everything was sold out so we were trapped. Surprisingly, the final three nights were very peaceful. The bars were quite by midnight. The second problem with the apartment is the underground parking. The slope of the driveway caused our car to “bottom out” and scrape the cement which destroyed the fiberglass front bumper of the rental car. There was one other major irritant. The neighboring beach bars use the beach directly in front of the villa for beach chair rentals. The Calypso listing states that guests can use the lounge chairs for “free” but we were kicked out by the Frenchie’s bar owner who told us to pay him $10 per chair. When I showed him emails from the property manager & owner saying that we had “free” access, he bluntly told me “.…No, I did not write that email to you, you have to get out”. The beach was so crowded that at one point we couldn't even reach the water from our villa. No sleep for five nights made this an trip an unforgettable nightmare.

Amazing getaway

My family recently stayed at this property and had the best time. We are repeat customers and would recommend this place to anyone. The property is located on one of the best beaches in St. Martin, within walking distance to many restaurants in Grand Case and couldn't be more convenient. The apartment is very clean and has everything that you might need during your stay. Christophe was always available and very accommodating.

We didn't want to leave!

We had a wonderful time in Grad Case! The apartment has fantastic views and Captain Frenchy's is right next door! Luna nd Chris were easy to communicate with. Lots of restaurant options in walking distance. Easy access directly to the beach and awesome sunsets! Look forward to going back!

Breathtaking

We just got home from 5 day stay in Grand Case. This VBRO property is just perfect. From the second you walk in the breathtaking views are unforgettable. The villa was clean and efficient, kitchen fully stocked, microwave, coffee maker, stove and washer/dryer. There are beach towels and even body wash, hand soap and all the basics you will need. The hosts are very accommodating and I can't say enough about what an incredible stay we had. It is nosy at night till about midnight, Grand Case does not go to bed early...but neither do we! Great music, shopping, food and easily walkable everywhere. I would definitely recommend this property, there were 7 of us and it worked perfectly. Thank you Cristophe and Luna for everything!!!!

Perfection!

Just came back from an amazing stay at this property with my family of 7. The apartment is spacious, very clean, is fully stocked and includes great amenities. What you see is what you get. Christophe and Luna were very responsive; always available via phone and messages prior to the trip. The location is perfect! Right on the beach and near the best restaurants in Grand Case. Breakfast was included with this property from Rainbow Cafe and they also allow you to use their beach chairs free of charge. Would definitely recommend this place and hosts to anyone. Can't wait to come back! A++++++

Festive and Fun

We loved staying in this apartment right on the beach. The place was spacious and so comfortable. We traveled with our two adult sons and they were happy to each have their own rooms and bathrooms. The check in was super easy and we felt welcomed and oriented. We loved staying next to the Rainbow Cafe. We enjoyed that there was music all the time and their food was excellent too especially sushi. The apartment was conveniently located- we rarely even needed our car! We would definitely stay there again. Also Luna was so accommodating. Originally we were supposed to be there in January but our sons got covid and could not travel. Rather than lose our money Luna was able to change our dates to March!! We felt a lot of gratitude for her flexibility!

Comfortable with Phenomenal View

Lived the layout of the unit. Very comfortable for 6 people. Spacious bedrooms. Excellent access to a beautiful, calm beach. Lots of options for meals. Grand Case is still struggling a bit from Irma and the pandemic, but we had a wonderful stay here! Captain Frenchy's bar adjacent can be a bit noisy in the evenings. They have good food and maintain their chairs and beach well. Awesome staff there. The owner Luna and Christphe were excellent. Overall an excellent vacation!

A Family First

This was the first trip we took together as an expanded family after my daughter got married last year - we love St Martin and wanted to share it with our kids! Calypso was perfect! It's on the beach, had plenty of room for all of us and such beautiful views! Parking is a bit tricky but that's the nature of the neighborhood. Easy walk to the best restaurants - for a quick bite, there's a great bakery and pizzeria across the street and Captain Frenchy's next door (music is a bit loud but ends at a decent time in the evenings). LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Calypso - wonderful stay and excellent hosts!!
