"A very basic standard of accommodation, the beds weren’t very comfortable, the TV was tiny and only Freeview channels available. The outside area was like a junk yard and parking was tricky in terms of getting back out on to the road. No communication prior to our stay so we had no idea of the check in process. Ok for a 2 night stay but won’t be returning."

"The house was mostly comfortable but needs some upkeep. The communication with the host was a challenge and they did not reply to most messages (even an acknowledgment of receipt would be okay). One of the showers we could not adjust the temperature, 2 of the showers had mold. One of the biggest challenges was trying to cook as the cookware is very worn and some of it unusable. Breakfast was excellent cereals, fruit juice, toast and jams. 2 sausages, 2 bacon, beans, hash browns and choice of how your eggs cooked. Also ate in the restaurant and cafe both excellent. Room was clean, tea coffee and good shower. Stayed four nights, couldn't fault it. Staff really nice. "

Three night stay at Alnwick Lodge.

"Delightful quirky accommodation; staff very friendly, lounge very homely with lovely log burner and plenty of glasses to enjoy your own drinks, snacks or takeaway food etc. Large communal tables which gives lots of opportunity to meet and socialise with other guests. Although our room wasn’t large it had everything we needed and was full of character. Alnwick has lots to see and do and lovely restaurants."

"The welcome was was warm and the room large and clean. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and it was delicious with impeccable service. We had breakfast on two mornings, again food was very good. Two small criticisms from our stay was that the bed/mattress was very firm but this is about personal taste so may be fine for others! We spoke to reception and while they couldn’t offer a different room they did provide a mattress topper which resolved the issue and we were happy with that. The second criticism was that after we drank the water on the first night, it wasn’t replaced by housekeeping which i would have expected. Would definitely stay again though we had a lovely time "
