"Fantastic property. 16 of us for a family birthday. Lots of different spaces so we werent on top of each other all the time. The teens really enjoyed the games room. It was also great having all of us round the huge dining table. Location is ideal so we walked in to Galashiels and also in to tweedbank , no need to get in the car. "

"Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh."

We were new to the area but found the location perfect as a base for exploring near and far. over a few days..plenty to do on your doorstep with shops and eateries with-in Melrose if you don't fancy cooking. "We found the home to be a very nice size with ample room for us. The recent upgrades and renovations were very well done. We did have a bit of difficulty navigating the one way streets for the parking situation. Parking lot across the street was close and free during our stay which was very good. Parking nearly by on the street would have been a challenge. The property was in an area urban renewal. Was well within an easy walk to the High Street. "

"Great location and very modern. I like a traditional feel more than the modern but it had everything one needed. However, there was less than 1 role of toilet paper between both bathrooms combined and no soap or shampoo, napkins, paper towels, dish brushes or clothes wash so come prepared. Also, the garbage outside was filled to overflowing before we arrived and we were unable to clean up our kitchen. Apparently, per the neighbor, this is an ongoing problem. The beds were a little uncomfortable....

"Great central location from which to explore the Borders region from Bamburgh to Melrose ; from the Alnwick Gardens to Edinburgh. After a great day exploring to return to our quiet countryside cottage for a relaxing glass while watching the sunset over the hills as the the horses enjoying a late night snack in the paddock and the swifts and bats doing tricks was wonderful . "Our business group (and spouses) enjoyed a marvelous retreat at the Hope Scott Wing at Abbotsford. We'd seen the general pictures of Abbotsford, which are stunning. But, we were particularly and pleasantly surprised to find our VRBO accommodations at the Hope Scott Wing to be excellent! The house is both comfortable and impressive. And, Donald and Diane (our contacts at Abbotsford) were extremely helpful in setting up this visit, including great suggestions as to things to do in the area,...

The only slight niggles - a couple of the dining room chairs were very wobbly and the front of the dishwasher kept coming detached.
