Secluded mountain retreat

Aspen View Lodge offers the perfect mountain getaway. Your Colorado retreat begins at this 8 bedroom, 3.5-bathroom vacation rental home in an adventure lover’s paradise - the Dolores River Valley. With 4,500 square feet of living space, this home base is perfect for group retreats and events, or just to escape with friends and family. Situated on nearly 8 acres bordering the San Juan National Forest, this is an ideal base camp to explore the Southwest. Located minutes from hiking, ATVing, 4x4 trails, biking, fishing, and hunting, this place has it all! Nearby Cortez and Telluride! Just across the road from the Dolores River! Ideal for family reunions and weddings. The arch and benches shown in the pictures is a beautiful area to hold a ceremony. We do have an additional fee to hold an event on our property. Our lodge can sleep 26. We are centrally located between Cortez and Telluride offering a wide variety of restaurants, shopping, museums, National Parks and skiing. Only 20 minutes from McPhee Reservoir, one of the largest bodies of water in Colorado!

Though easily accessible from Highway 145, this cabin is nestled in the woods and has a very private feel. Imagine exploring thousands of acres of national forest directly from the property, filled with pine, oak, spruce, aspen and abounding with wildlife. Watch the Dolores River wind through the valley. Fish on the river or hike up one of many nearby trails. Take a day trip to Telluride and enjoy the free Gondola in one of Colorado's most pristine alpine mountain towns (40 min away). Take another day trip to some of the best preserved ancient native american ruins in North America at Mesa Verde National Park (45 min away). Or just enjoy the mountain air and relax in a quintessential Colorado setting at the cabin.

Please be prepared, if you are coming in the winter, for snowy and icy road conditions. We have a very long, steep and narrow driveway. Four wheel drive and/or heavy duty chains are required if you are coming in the winter in order to make it up our driveway. If you have at least one four wheel drive vehicle in your group, you can use that as a shuttle and park the rest of your vehicles down below. Thanks for your understanding, we don't want you to get stuck!

We were visited by so much wild life mtn lion at night a bear 2 mornings in a row. The views from the cabin are to die for! The fact its so close to so many historic towns really add to the extra extploring you can do. I definitely want to rent with you again!

Exceeded our expectations!
We loved this cabin!! We had a small wedding ceremony here and it was incredible. The picutres do not do it justice! The ceremony site was beautiful with the wildflowers around (which was our theme so it was perfect). We didn't even need decorations! The house was.prrfect and there was plenty of space. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend!

Another amazing stay
We had our wedding here a year ago and just came back to celebrate our first anniversary with family and friends. Could not recommend this cabin and property manager “more highly”. We love staying here and hope to make it an annual trip for our family.

Destination Wedding
The property was better than the photos! It was so comfortable with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and was stocked with everything we needed from outdoor games to pantry staples, laundry soap, and more! We especially enjoyed the hummingbirds, the heated deck, fire pit and the wedding site was beautiful!

Amazing for our wedding!
This cabin has so much space! It's fully stocked and beautifully decorated! The views are breathtaking, the air is fresh and just what we needed! We rented the wedding site as well for our small mountain wedding and it was absolutely perfect! Parking is limited but we shuttled guests up the driveway from the pull out at the bottom and everything went great! We hope to come back for vacations in the future!

We had a wonderful stay
House was in a wonderful location and close to other tourist spots, sound of the stream was soothing and loved watching the humming birds, kids had a great time playing outside and they enjoyed spending time around the fire pit. Property was clean and well stocked. One suggestion for the owner, in the basement where the carpet joins the tile, nails were poking out, and I stepped on one of them.

Great Wedding Location!
For folks looking for an intimate wedding experience this location is great. We slept ~25ish people and had multiple beds to spare. The wedding site does require driving for elderly guests. The road up is a little dusty so it's ideal to drive up, but multiple folks walked up so it's doable if people aren't super concerned.

Fantastic getaway!
We had a party of ten adults. The cabin was great with plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was excellent and the dining table accommodated all of us for our group meals. The cabin was secluded and we could hear the river rushing by just below the cabin. Fantastic getaway. We hope to return for another visit to the Dolores area.

Very pleased!
Our family group of 13 and dogs had an excellent stay. Kitchen and dining table area was great for everyone to share, cook, eat, and play games in. The deck was were I spent most of my time personally, enjoying coffee in the am, the a cocktail in the evening. All other areas and bedrooms are more than enough for the entire group (and more) to spread out and do their own things if desired. We would definitely stay here again!!

Perfect spot in the fall
This was an amazing place to stay and get married, especially the second week of October. The cabin gave an amazing view to see the leaves change and in full color. They also stocked it very well overall. The wedding site was also incredible, the walk up was absolutely stunning and my favorite part! Maybe if you’re nervous about driving in the mountains any, walk up/down the driveway and it’ll make you feel better :) besides the driveway the drive there was absolutely perfect and not intimidating at all for those of us from the flat lands.

The view
This was definitely a great experience the snow was amazing the house fit all 14 of us perfect. The driveway a little scary but we survived 😂. But OMG the view that we had was just amazing. Eating at that dinning room table and look out that window was just breathtaking. Definitely will be back in the summer.

Great and beautiful home!
Mark is an amazing host! The home is beautiful with plenty of snow for us. We got 32” of snow the first night. Mark came up the next day and plowed the driveway for us so we could go wherever we needed. Definitely will be renting from Mark again! Thank you for the memories!

Second stay here and we'll be back!
This was our second year staying in this wonderful house and we'll be back next year for a third. The owners are the most helpful and Anna, the property Manager, is always amazing for any needs that come up. The house is amazing, clean and comfy and things are stocked well with anything you might have forgotten. The area and property grounds are just gorgeous and definitely a favorite for our group. It's always so hard to leave, but starting to plan for next year makes it a bit easier. We couldn't recommend this place more! See you in 2023!

Wedding weekend celebration
Beautiful property with lots to do in the surrounding area. We were up here for our wedding! Bad weather and unforeseen circumstances resulted in us having to pivot our plans for a ceremony at the ceremony site, but the location has plenty of options for backup plans for a ceremony. We ended up doing the ceremony on the porch near the gas fire pit and it worked out amazing! During our stay there was an emergency fire resulting in down power lines. As a result we had no power for a day, but the house is more than equipped for this. The property manager was very responsive and let us know where all the back up water and flashlights were. Each floor also had a fireplace and the house is equipped with more than enough firewood. Despite the unforeseen complications due to Mother Nature our group had a great time! Would definitely come back to this place.

Perfect Location for a Family Reunion
We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin! It was clean and comfortable, but not fancy--which was perfect for our group that included a large number of kids. There were plenty of bedrooms with a variety of sleeping arrangements. The only drawback was there were only three bathrooms (two with showers and one with a bathtub), which was workable for us, but might be a challenge in other situations. The location is absolutely beautiful! The outdoor fire pit area was great for gatherings. We took a day trip to Mesa Verde National Park (about 40 minutes from the cabin) and loved seeing the ancient Pueblo cliff dwellings. The owners and the manager were very responsive to our numerous questions and were flexible with accommodating some of our concerns with the timing of our reunion due to Covid. We would definitely stay here again!
