Couldn’t get in the door
We were 4.5 hours from home but spending the weekend in Cleveland. Once we were about an hour away, I realized that we did not receive check in instructions and check in was at 4 pm. I messaged the host 3 times to receive the information and had to get into contact with VRBO customer support. The host ended up calling my phone after he messaged me the directions, over an hour later (1.5 hours past check in). We perceived the neighborhood as unsafe and had to enter 2 doors to get into the apartment. We had to call the host because the directions were unclear on how to use the lock. We were able to get into the first door and we tried the second. We had to type in two various 8 digit codes to enter while the host was on the phone with us. Both codes were wrong so the lock locked us out for a few minutes and it was triggering an alarm. The host decided to try to text me to download an app to enter. I felt extremely unsafe with my husband and 2 kids under 2 years old. We promptly left the building and drove to the nearest Walmart parking lot. I was left with no place to stay at 6 pm at night with two small children because of the unsafe environment of the apartment. Do not believe this should be available through Vrbo or any other rental service.
