2 bed home secluded on a wooden lot, 5 minutes from Mackinaw City! Sleeps 7-10!

Looking for a place to stay near Mackinaw City, one that’s close to the excitement of the city, but just far enough away to enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Northern Michigan has to offer???

Our home is just 5 minutes south of Mackinaw City and located on 8 acres of wooded property with a long secluded driveway. There is also a small creek that runs through the property to adventure to. The North Central State Trail (used for walking, biking, snowmobiling) is located less than half a mile from the rental. See the last couple photos taken this winter, 2018, of the snowmobile trail! Our property has plenty of parking space for snowmobiles, campers, 4-wheelers, boats and more! The home also has an 8’ x 16’ deck that holds a small patio set and BBQ grill. Fire pit located in the front yard. Make sure to bring your camping chairs, we only have a handful for you to use!

Don’t forget the home is located in the woods and is secluded down a long driveway. You may see wildlife and even be pestered by mosquitos, so please remember your bug spray! 4 wheel drive is suggested for the winter months. The driveway will be plowed, but may be difficult to pass through with a small car.

Our home has 2 large bedrooms and one bathroom. Bedroom #1 has two bunk beds (1-twin/full and 1-twin/twin) and a small seating area with 32" TV and DVD player. Bedroom #2 has a king size bed and 43" TV with Blu-ray player. Pack n play also available. Open kitchen stocked with all of the cooking essentials that you may need, such as pots, pans and dishes. Large kitchen table that easily seats 8 people along with a bar that seats 3. The living room has a futon couch that can be unfolded to use as more sleeping space and a large couch. DirecTV available on the television in the living room along with a DVD and VHS player.

The house is stocked with everything you may need, including...linens, towels, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, a coffee maker, etc! Stackable washer and dryer also included and located in small mudroom. Make sure to bring toilet paper! You are welcome to use any left over cleaning supplies, trash bags and laundry detergent, but I can not guarantee any will be there, so plan accordingly.

You will receive an email about one week prior to your arrival with instructions for the check-in/check-out process. Check-in begins at 3pm and check-out is at 11am. Please contact owner before reservation is made for special accommodations. No Wifi available, due to our location in the woods. No problem with cell phone coverage. There are many local campgrounds, restaurants and hotels that provide Wifi free of charge.

Perfect base camp
We loved the location. Close and easy to get to Saint Ignace. They do not provide firewood, there is a garden center just north of the cabin that sells great bundles. You’re in the woods so there is a lot of mosquitos, with the proper repellent it is tolerable. We brought some solar lights to help light up the outside at night. We also bought and left a 12 cup coffee maker as the 5 cup one that was there is just not big enough. We absolutely loved staying here and hope to come back. Beds were super comfy and the shower was nice. It would be helpful if there was a hand rail on the outside stairs and the bath tub, I traveled with an older person and she had trouble with the stairs and getting into the tub, other than that it was a perfect and great place to stay!! We saw a huge owl and a lot of different kind of birds while at the property.

Nice isolated house close to Mackinac
Overall, great place to stay. Close to Mackinac City and other northern lower peninsula attractions. It was raining all day when we arrived so the long driveway was interesting (underwater in one spot) but not hazardous. Mosquitoes were ravenous, so couldn't spend any time outside. The only suggestion I would make would be to change the description for check-in. It says keys are in a lock box on the door. There was no lockbox. And no one answered when I called. We finally looked in the mail box and found the keys, but it did give us about 20 minutes of anxiety.

Stargazing awaits
If you like a great location a quick drive from the city while being off the beaten path, this is a good choice. No Wi-Fi so plan to be one with the property. Bring lighting to see outside as they do not have outdoor lights and the fire pit is far away from the house. You can stargaze and see the Milky Way from the yard. Overall a fun time!

Excellent location Ease to get to town and supplies. Private n wooded. House had plenty of space. Suggestions replace worn mailbox numbers for easier locating the house. Porch steps need railings. More attention to detailed cleaning. No security or yard lights..very dark at night!

Cannot beat the location for the price!
This was a great property to stay at. It was what we expected, a house near the UP, in the woods. The owners were kind and informative. It was a bit chilly, so we asked if it was okay to turn on the heat (we weren't sure if they wanted to leave it off and use the fireplace). They also answered any other questions we had and were quick to respond, usually within 5 minutes through the VRBO app. We were able to do laundry and everyone got great sleep. It was clean and only 8-10 minutes from Mackinaw to get to a ferry and go to the island. The price was outstanding for the location and price. I only we we had better weather to enjoy a fire outside. While no WIFI, we did have cell reception so we were able to utilize our phones without issue (we also stayed in the UP and that was a major problem for us). My only issue was the outdoor light wasn't working so when it's dark, in the woods, it's REALLY DARK. But we had flashlights so it wasn't TOO big a deal :) Overall, I would say it was a great stay for the location and price.

We loved it!

Remote...yet close to everything!
If you are looking for an inexpensive summer family vacation spot with no social media, no texting, just good old-fashioned board games, and puzzles...this is it! Spend the nights around the bonfire making s'mores, catching fireflies, and counting mosquito bites. Spend your days exploring everything upper Michigan has to offer, the lake, museums, hiking...this is the spot! It is a clean, cozy place with no frills yet close to local eateries and shops. Spend time with your family yet not break the bank.

Good place for the money
Good location, too many bugs inside and out, no curtains, no dish towels or hand towels, or wash cloths. We only slept here at night. Great place for our group. Short drive to Mackinaw City and Wilderness Camp Ground. It could use curtains tho. Refrigerator could use a cleaning too.

Smelled very musty. Only a piece of bar soap in bathroom (at sink) and less than 1/3 roll of tp. Only one wash cloth available when unit sleeps up to 10. Yard not mowed (not a big deal). Windows had enough dirt/bug debris in them I was not comfortable opening many of them for fresh air..

Great secluded place close to Mackinaw
We had a wonderful vacation at this house. It was nice and secluded. We enjoyed camp fires and the kids could run around outside. Mackinaw city is so close. It was a very convenient location because Mackinaw City is so close! We went there every day to walk around or eat because it was so close. Loved being able to go to town and come back to a private located house.

Close to Mackinaw
Great place to stay that was close to Mackinaw and Cheboygan. Multiple TVs so the kids didn't fight over what they had to watch, which we only did at night before bed. If coming from I 75 North, do not take the road from M66 E - Levering, its all a dirt and not kept up very well. Go around to Cheboygan or Mackinaw and come in from US23. Biting deer fly's where really bad when we were there, so we were unable to use the fire pit, though the owners did leave several bundles of wood.

The place could use a little TLC. I don’t want to complain too much because the price was right for what we got. The only part that really bothered me were the earwigs. The place was damp so perfect breading ground for them. 1 night I killed 3 on the way to the bedroom.

Great place with a couple things to be aware of.
I loved the location, super close to mackinaw city. The place was bigger than i expected which was nice for our group. The property was back in the woods which was really cool, EXCEPT... the bugs. The mosquitos were RELENTLESS. We were unable to use the firepit no matter how much big spray. 10 seconds after you applied it they were right back at you. The black flies were really bad also. I know other reviews mentioned this as well but it was worse than expected. My other concern was the bugs were really bad inside as well. Tons of ants and earwigs and spiders. My granddaughter was playing on the floor and the ants were EVERYWHERE. There were spiders in a couple of the pots and pans etc. I TRULY loved everything else about the place with the exception of the major bug problem.

Our stay was great! Nothing fancy but had everything we needed for the essentials. The rooms accommodated 2 families with 5 young children well. King bedroom is large and beds comfy. We did not have WiFi and washing machine was out of service. Bugs were quite bad on the property. We had hoped to utilize the fire pit but decided the bugs were not worth it. Hopefully mowing the grass will help with the mosquitoes. Property is very peaceful and quiet! We would stay again if visiting the area in the future.

This place fit our needs perfectly. Plenty of space for our group.The land is beautiful! Close enough to town. We enjoyed nights by the fire, got to watch leaves turning green and pretty flowers. Only suggestion would be to have extra toilet paper.there was only one roll and markets are limited in the area. Thank you for the beautiful space!

Comfortable cabin in the woods
This is our second time at this cabin and we’ve already booked it for next year. We love the private location yet it’s only 5 or 6 miles to Mackinaw City. It’s comfortable and larger than it looks. Basic necessities for cooking your own meals are provided. Bring your own paper products though as there was no toilet paper or paper towels. Would definitely recommend. It’s just as described.
