LOCATION:

With close proximity to upper King Street and the Crosstown (Septima P. Clark Parkway), the location of this home enables guests to walk to restaurants, shops & other cultural delights and provides quick road access to Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, all local beaches, Charleston County parks, historic plantation homes along the Ashley River and other local attractions. There are a lot of new local restaurants -- as well as all the offerings of Upper King Street -- within a couple of minutes stroll from the Sweet Spacious Suite. With D'Allesandros Pizza (a local pizza institution), Brown's Court Bakery (amazing breads & pastries) and the Ordinary (high end oyster & seafood restaurant) a couple of blocks, guests have many unique local food options to explore. Walk to Barsa for some Tapas or visit the Daily for some coffee or locally made Kombucha!

This is the best neighborhood in Charleston if you are looking to be steps away from King Street and experience the area as a local in a transitional neighborhood among new residents of the city, students and longtime local families. The diversity and richness of history in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood makes this part of town desirable to locals and visitors alike. Sweet Spacious Suite is perfect for folks who enjoy a diverse, vibrant and eclectic neighborhood where you can watch the reinvestment & revitalization in old historic properties going on in real time. Parts of the neighborhood might still look a bit rough but it is safe. This neighborhood was recently profiled by the WALL ST JOURNAL in April 2017 as "THE PLACE TO STAY IN CHARLESTON" and it's also where Jamie Lee Curtis stayed - and walked her dog every morning - while shooting the 2018 remake of the Halloween movie!

We are close to the crosstown parkway which may impact light sleepers but our db readings show it isn't loud enough to be a disturbance. There is also construction in the street which is almost complete but may result in additional noise during the day or other issues beyond our control.

We had an incredible stay while we were in Charleston! We had everything that we needed and the hosts were so quick to respond with any questions or requests that we had. The location was perfect and so close to tons of restaurants, shops, and bars. Would highly recommend this listing and would love to stay here again!

Great stay in Charleston!
This place is exactly as advertised ... roomy downstairs with two bedrooms and two baths upstairs in a great neighborhood! We had everything we needed to explore Charleston and return to comfortable surroundings. Yes, there is some highway noise but not enough to keep us awake. The plus side is that it is easy to get on the highway and easy to get back from visiting plantations, Mt. Pleasant, etc. And we especially loved the neighborhood. Bistronomy at Nico's was so good that we ate there twice. The grocery store across the street from it covered all our needs. And Island Provisions was great for breakfast. We would not hesitate to rent this place again!

Girls Getaway - Perfect!
We were fortunate to have found this townhome, just two blocks from King Street, with convenient access to numerous bars, restaurants, and shops. While the property is older, it was comfortable, impeccably clean, and the hosts were both responsive and welcoming. The beds were cozy, and we felt very safe during our girls' weekend. I would certainly stay here again!" Thanks, Tammy, Jackie, Kathy & Jennifer

Needs some work
Love the off street parking. We noticed a stale/cat pee smell when we walked in. Photos do not match the current decor of the house. Most of the furniture is in poor shape and needs to be thrown away as well as many needed repairs to make this place rentable, in my opinion. The front door is very hard to lock/unlock and to open/close for example. I like the overall location minus the noise from the highway behind the house. With a little work this could be a great 5 star rating rental.

Birthday weekend visit
We rented this place for my husband's birthday, and it turned out to be perfect for our needs. The location was ideal, within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. The backyard was great for us, especially since we were traveling with our dog. While there is construction directly behind, it was quiet from Friday to Sunday. However, the noise on Monday started around 7 am and was quite loud.

Birthday celebrations
We booked our stay to enjoy my birthday. We brought our nephew for his birthday as we are only two days apart. The space downstairs was awesome. Loved having the on-suites just for that privacy and the ac was on point. Having our own off street parking was and we didn’t mind walking. We ate at Barsa. So close. Great small plates and our server was so sweet. Had calamari, charcuterie, lamb meatballs she even brought us extra bread for the sauce. The ribs delish. And meat. Mmm. Deserts were great. We did beach, Fort Moultrie, Aquarium and Boone Hall. Walked down to the market and just got some drinks and some appetizers at the smaller Husk and ate at Poogans porch. Our server again was amazing. Brought our table a glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday. I thought that was a special touch. As for sleeping we had the master bed. Very comfy. Water pressure in the shower was as great. Had a wonderful stay. As previously mentioned it’s near the highway. Didn’t bother us at all. We had sound machine to damper the noise. All and all great memories were made.

My sister and I went to celebrate Fathers Day together. Dad just passed away in March. I live in Myrtle Beach and have been to Charleston several times but my sister lives in Iowa and hasn’t been for 30 years. The location was perfect for walking most places we wanted to see and great restaurants in that area as well. Walked at night and felt very safe in this neighborhood as well.

Save Your Vacation - Do NOT book this property
My friend and I booked this property on our trip to Charleston. Our experience with the property ruined our stay, cost us money for hotels when we had to leave this property after just a few hours due to its condition and has opened our eyes to the lack of oversight of a property’s condition by VRBO. Upon arrival, we went to the back porch of the property to find a dilapidated, rotting table that would have collapsed if you touched it. The outdoor furniture on all porches is rotting with one porch bench so rotted one of the legs had collapsed. The porches were dirty, not swept or cleaned of debris. Upon entry, we were met with a nasty smell. My friend thought it smelled like cat urine. In the living room area, the furniture was also in bad shape- not at all like the photos of this listing!!! There was a decorative material thrown over one couch. I lifted it to see what was underneath- it was a torn couch with dead bugs in it. The couch was all torn like it had been put out to the curb as garbage. I would NOT sit on that! Pretty quickly, my friend had an allergic reaction to the place. Her throat closed up and she kept coughing. We contacted the property owner to ask if we could stay at another property they managed. The property managers were unresponsive. When they did call back they refused to accommodate us in any way. We called VRBO, sent photos at their request and hoped for help. We got none due to manager’s refusal. We had to leave-BEWARE DO NOT STAY!

As Described
Clean, spacious, walking distance to great restaurants. As described, near highway so outdoor space is not pleasant for sitting but the highway noise was not noticeable indoors. Comfortable mattress!!!!!! Had to buy a corkscrew!!! Should be number one amenity!!! I would suggest getting confirmation on amenities-seemed like they hadn’t updated list (e.g. also no Keurig was on site).

Old Charm and Walkable
I read the description and reviews thoroughly so I wasn’t surprised by anything. The interstate on-ramp right outside the window isn’t ideal but we knew about it in advance and brought earplugs/sound machines. The only thing we couldn’t have planned for was the construction of the house right next door. They started working at 7 am each day which was noisy. It’s obviously a temporary issue no one can do anything about, but be aware. The house had great charm, the location was awesome - we walked almost everywhere (down king street to the harbor and market was a little over 1.5 miles), but for 2 women traveling we felt safe and had a great time! Beds were comfy. They had coffee and filters for us which was nice. And they don’t make you clean the whole house at checkout. Ha!

Overall Decent
This was a decent place to stay. It was at the far end of King Street which means lots of walking. Our biggest complaints were 1) they don’t provide much toilet paper and 2) the road noise at night is pretty bad. The highway is VERY close and there is lots of activity late into the night. None of us slept well.

There is an expressway immediately behind the house. Noisy The bed is not comfortable. There was constant, late night noise from the apartment next door. The master bedroom door latch does not work. Disappointed in Charleston
There were three adults who stayed three nights in this unit. Here are the pros and cons: Pros - The unit has two parking spots dedicated to the unit. - The unit is two levels with the (2) bedrooms/bathrooms upstairs - There was detergent pods/softener sheets with washer/dryer to use. - One section of the neighborhood walking toward King Street appears safer than walking the opposite direction. Cons: - Unit is outdated and has a stale odor upon entering. -Neighborhood is very noisy at night. -The unit backs up to the interstate and you can hear the cars/trucks at night. -The itrip company that manages the unit only supplies first round of paper products. We ran out of toilet paper on our third day and were told they would not restock. - The front door was very challenging to open and lock with the deadbolt. The owners left a bottle of red wine and cookies upon our arrival; this was a nice gesture. However, I would not stay in this unit again.

Great quick weekend stay
What a cute place! The grass backyard is perfect for small dogs. The beds are super comfy. The open downstairs area lets everyone spread out. The only negative (and it wasn’t a big deal for me at all) was the noise level from the cars on the highway at night. It can get loud. We all really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!
