"Serena Beach Hotel is well located, had beautiful timeless architecture and wonderful ambience. The staff made our stay special, very attentive, pleasant and wet had lots of laughter with them. The Chef is outstanding, all the meals and snacks were well prepared, with a diverse presentation of food and drink. The sea front needs some cleaning attention otherwise we enjoyed cooling off in the ocean, very safe and comfortable to swim, even for the little ones. We will be back!"

"Our 2 days Was okay. The bathroom had stains that can be removed with some stains remover the bed was a bit dusty and the noisy was too loud till midnight. But Friendly helpful staff and lovely breakfast thank you.."

"The staff get 12 out 10. Choice of different items in buffet are amazing. This is a 4* and they had king prawns on dinner menu on 21st december with the lower rates before Christmas. We are writing this review from a 5* hotel in malindi owned by a large italian chain on christmas eve and there is no dreams of having prawns on menu. Hands down an amazing experience. Only downside is the general cleanliness. The loos near the pool stink really bad "

"Stayed for 6 nights with kids and was upgraded. The room was super clean, staff service was great. While the food was good options are limited. I didnt like the snack pool as it seems to require better care (was not clear/clean enough). But we really enjoyed our stay."

"Hemingways Watamu was just what we were looking for in terms of somewhere to relax and rest after an injury and work. Watamu itself is a bit less interesting in the off season (I.e. most restaurants are closed, as are many of the gear shops), but it’s still lovely if not a tad bit windy. Staff were amazing! Highly recommend."

"Fantastic location. Although the main road outside is still under construction. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We did have a problem with the water supply being no hot water, but they fitted a new solar system so it was working at the end of our visit. Watching the monkeys while eating breakfast was amazing. Food delicious and varied.."

"This was the most magical vacation and guesthouse that we have ever stayed at! The facilities are gorgeous and the staff is so sweet and accommodating (and always available) and we LOVED the big and beautiful pool. "A great place to stay and relax while having a beach just below. The have a great restaurant on site but prepare to wait as things are made to order. I had to wait to get soup for almost an hour. Otherwise, the property has a great and friendly staff. I surely recommend this location for a long or short stay."

"First let me get this opportunity to thank all the staff. All the staff members we encountered were all extremely friendly, amazing and exceptional. Kudos to Japheth and Ian from the Animation team, Esther at the front desk, Harry, Harun, Edith and Ferdinand in the restaurant. Our housekeeper was also very patient with us, I’ve forgotten her name. The resort is very clean and there are many activities to do during the day. There is also entertainment in the evening. The guy who sings in the dinning room has an amazing voice. We generally had a wonderful time at the resort and we look forward to returning soon. If you are looking for a place to go, please don’t hesitate to book this resort, you won’t be disappointed. "

Affordable beach front stay

"For such a large complex it never felt overcrowded. The restaurant below has a great menu and live entertainment on set nights. Staff were friendly and efficient. Full size fridge and cooking facilities in room were good. Not the most modern or chic place, but very clean and affordable. "
