"The staff were very friendly and courteous. Everyone from desk check-in, assistance, restaurant staff and so on. The foyer was beautiful, and the bar and verandahs were amazing!! Beautiful views from rooms, restaurant and terraces. "
"The property was gorgeous and well-appointed. Margarida was a very friendly hostess. The room was very large and very quiet. It looked out into a large yard that had beautiful gardens and pool area. Our breakfast was extensive and generous. A great stay for off the beaten path-very relaxing. In a very nice town."
"Lovely property with stunning views and close to Peso do Régua.
Shared areas are very well appointed and comfortable. Pool looked great but too cool to swim.
Excellent value! "
"We had an excellent time at Torel Quinta da Vacaria. They exceeded our expectations. This place truly is luxurious with a full spa. There is an outdoor pool and indoor pool. Steam rooms are open to all resort guests. The free breakfast was delicious with iberian ham included. The on site vineyard wine tasting was great too. Nice museum-like display told the history of douro valley vineyards."
"Spectacular view of the Douro Valley. Very clean modern open design. (Discussed the feedback already received with the host about the modern ‘open’ room floor plan)
Staff was great. Excellent breakfast. Helpful dinner suggestions."
"We absolutely loved our stay at Quinta da Marka! It was beautiful and on such a picturesque spot along the river. It was so relaxing and a restful spot for our honeymoon. The train station is nearby to get to other cities if you wanted to, otherwise it is quite isolated in this area. Walking over to Quinta do Crasto for a wine tasting & tour was a highlight of the area too! The Quinta offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner which was very convenient. Angela was so helpful in getting us checked in...
"Everything was absolutely amazing. Family run business where they put their heart into everything they do. Beautiful rooms, breakfast and dinner. My wife and I loved it here. Highly recommend!"
"We had a wonderful stay at Morgadio do Calcada. It has been the highlight of our trip to Portugal - and there were already so many impressive moments!
The property is a manor house at the edge of Provesendes run by the 18th generation of the household. The lodge is in a newly renovated part across the courtyard from the main house, surrounded by vineyards and a citrus grove. The rooms are modern with a very spacious bathroom. The owner, Manuel, is amazingly warm. He hosted the dinner the night...
"The staff were very friendly and kind. The breakfast served was one of the best we’ve had at any hotel with lots of variety and such fresh fruit. We enjoyed walking through the vineyard and found it an excellent spot to explore Douro. Highly recommend. "
"This was the absolute best resort I’ve ever experienced! From the moment I walked into the lobby, the staff were amazing. The food was phenomenal. The grounds were gorgeous. The room was just perfection. Would highly recommend!!!"
"A bit confusing at check in because the person giving us directions spoke limited English, but once inside they were very pleasant! Room was outstanding, great views and very spacious !! "

He hosted the dinner the night we dined there and shared a lot of insight on his family and the range of wines he produces from his old vines. The reserved red was stunning, so was his white port. His staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable.
The village itself is UNESCO heritage protected - charming, walkable, and probably has not changed for 500 years. The church bell still rings to tell the villagers time, and a small bakery opens for a few hours in the morning to supply the village with bread. There is a cafe, a restaurant, and a bar. But the laid-back lifestyle means they may or may not be open when you arrive...
You must have dinner there one of the nights. Also, if you get a chance to tour the main house, do it. It's like going back in time..."

"Our four night stay at Casa do Santo was FANTASTIC! The estate is beautiful, elegant and stylish, and Maria and her staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and to make you feel spoiled. The included breakfast was excellent, and so was the dinner that the estate offers upon request. Our room was spacious and lovely. The property has beautiful views of vineyards, and the tiny town in the gorgeous Douro Valley that it’s located in, Provesende, is charming. We hope to return, because Casa do Santo is an ABSOLUTE GEM!!!"
