From the sea facing deck spectacular sunrises and sunsets can be savored and BBQ enjoyed with a stunning view of False Bay and ArK Rock. Situated in Jackson Road, a quiet little street, a lovely walk from the picturesque seaside village of Simon's Town for shopping and fine dining at reasonable prices. Take a stroll down to Boulders Beach National Park famous for its Jackass Penguin Colony or a breath taking walk up the Naval steps on Admirals Kloof, the mountain behind the cottage. Drive the scenic road south, down the peninsula, to the well known Cape Point Nature Reserve where you can get a magnificent view of the 2 oceans, Indian and Atlantic, merging. Enjoy a glass of Cape wine and a braai as you sit under the pergola on the deck, and gaze out to sea, you may catch a rare glimpse of the Mermaid of Ark Rock!

Amazing stay

Amazing stay
Overall was lovely we enjoyed the stay. Jen went above and beyond even had sweets and hot chocolate all setup for the kids. Place is cold in winter maybe another heater would be great.

Great Location in Simon's Town
We had a great stay at the cottage! It was within walking distance to Boulder's Beach and the little shops. The views are spectacular! And Barry made our stay even better with great recommendations and hospitality. We would definitely love to stay here again if we ever get the chance to return :)

Charming cottage with stunning views and a great location
The cottage was lovely and welcoming. Our host was most accommodating in every way The patio has views of the ocean and the mountains and a beach frequented by a colony of penguins is just a few blocks away. Everything about our stay was restful and hassle free - we hated to leave!

Lovely cottage with a great location
This is a lovely cottage that has all the amenities you need. Checking in with Jenni was painless and she went over everything we needed to know. We loved that we could walk to Boulder Beach and to Simons Town. We had some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Would highly recommend this property and hope to return someday.

Really great house with a fantastic terrace
We booked this house for the view and we really loved in. The street where the house is located is very calm, so every evening we feeled like we're the only ones out there. The barbecue ofcourse also made the outside place feel like home. The garden was maintained well. Inside the house we loved the space and the double bathroom. The contact with the host was really good.

Mermaid Cottage.
We stayed at this lovely home for a week while visiting my daughter, an exchange student at UCT. The home is everything the photos suggest: simple, elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. It has wonderful views of False Bay and is a comfortable walk to downtown Simon's Town.

Great location and property
We had a lovely stay. The property is very nice, great location close to penguins and easy drive to other attractions, and has great views. The listing could be clearer that there is a cash deposit and early arrival/departure fee. Not a problem, but that only became clear later when we signed the contract.

Future first option
Simply cannot fault anything - from the time of booking until checkout. Excellent service including, updates on load shedding schedules and alternative lighting and cooking options, sharing of local knowledge and responsive contact throughout our stay. Dream place to stay
Very quiet neighborhood. Walking distance from the beach (Boulders and others), sea side restaurants and downtown Simon's Town shopping and dining. Excellent manager, very responsive via WhatsApp. The only downside is the distance from downtown Cape Town but we didn't mind the ride with such wonderful views. Overall, great experience. Would come again! Kudos to Jen. ❤️

Amazing and more amazing! Views to dream for!
We had a wonderful stay! The sunset and sunrise views over the bay was absolutely amazing from almost every window and porch of the home. My family loved the home so much that we want to buy it if it one day comes up for sale. Please let me know! The house was very well equipped with everything a guest could need. Breathtaking views from a peaceful oasis
We had a fantastic stay. We felt immediately at home. The cottage is located on a small quiet residential road. It has magnificent views, especially from its sun terrace - a perfect place to relax and read a book. Bookshelves filled with a good selection of books were much appreciated. WIFI and Netflix were just the icing on the cake for our screen dependent teenager but the WiFi was also very helpful for the adults to connect on WhatsApp. Barry, who welcomed us at the property was very friendly and chatty. We truly loved the property and we would definitely love to stay there again on our next trip to Cape Town.

Amazing views !!!
Elspeth, thank you so much for such a memorable stay at your home. This home is in a great location. Bolder beach is literally a 5 min walk away. The views from the porch are perfect for sunrise coffee. The home itself is great. Very clean and again good views from the living room windows. Berry was amazing as well. Answered any questions we had. He went above and beyond to make sure we knew where good restaurants were and a small grocery down the street for snacks to keep at the house. Berry even helped us unload our luggage. He is amazing and an A+. Elspeth Thank you for keeping in touch making sure we made it and that check in and out went smooth. Hope to see you again soon !!!

Excellent location and amazing property manager
The checkin process is unlike anything I have ever experienced, but I totally get it now. The house needs to be secured from baboons so there is a process that needs to be explained in person. It’s not hard, just too much to explain in text. Jenni the property manager is an absolute delight. The location of the property couldn’t be any better. It’s walkable to boulders beach. The porch/patio is gorgeous, sadly it was too cold to really get to enjoy it for our stay but in warmer months it’s perfect for sunrise or moonrise (not facing the right direction for sunset, but still gorgeous). The property is older so it doesn’t have a lot of outlets in convenient places and the sinks are the old school double faucet, but it’s very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Location
Great Location. Quiet in the Wintertime. Short walk to view the penguins at Boulders Beach. Beautiful sunrise over the bay. We enjoyed breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe. We used the clothes washing machine and hung our clothes outside on the line to dry. Two bathrooms with bathtubs and no standup shower. I haven’t taken a bath sitting in the tub since I was a child. The electric wall heater in one bedroom did not work. We enjoyed meeting Barry at arrival but I have never before had to pay a security deposit in cash. Using a credit card was not available. We didn’t have water one day because of a water main break in town. We experienced load shedding in Johannesburg and decided that no water was worse than no electricity. This is Africa was our reaction. Our 3 night stay here was part of a 3 week vacation across Southern Africa visiting family.

Wonderful house with great views!
Nothing bad at all to say about this house! We met Janene, the property manager, upon arriving at Mermaid Rock Cottage. She provided fruit for our stay, and showed us around the cottage, which is lovely. The views of False Bay are simply out of this world! Would stay again!

Lovely place right near the heart of Simon’s Town. Good price and easy check-in/check-out. Lovely views of False Bay from the deck where we saw tons of breaching whales. Bring binoculars. No issues.

Positively Charming Holiday Stay
My husband and I spent 4 lovely nights in this charming cottage overlooking False Bay, in Simon’s Town, Cape Town, South Africa. It had everything we needed and the local manager who checked us in was fantastic and provided lots of recommendations for places to go, sites to see, and where to eat. We enjoyed walking down to the beach to see penguins and other wildlife. We were even once greeted by a baboon calling out from the top of a house nearby. The view is breathtaking! You can see the sunrise over the bay in the morning as you drink your coffee on the portico or from the seating area inside. The owner has numerous potted plants as well as grape vines adorning the entrance way and outdoor seating areas. There is a beautiful mosaic mermaid mural which represents the naming of the cottage. Communication before and during the stay was with both the owner and the manager was excellent. We would love to stay here again in the future. A few days here left us wanting more.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus
Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Das Haus ist hell und freundlich eingerichtet und hat alles was man für einen Aufenthalt einer 6-köpfigen Familie braucht. Die Lage oberhalb von Simon‘s Town ist ideal. Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen.
