Get out on the water on a kayak, sailing boat or catamaran and dive under the waves to explore sea life at Calvi Beach. This beautiful shallow bay is also a perfect spot for swimming and sunbathing.
Calvi Beach stretches for 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the marina at Quai Landry to Golfe de Calvi. In addition to the long, narrow strip of sand and shallow water, there is a wonderful view from here of the town’s famous citadel.
Rent sun loungers and umbrellas from the bars at the town end of the beach. There is also a mix of restaurants where you can enjoy everything from upscale dining to snacks. If you are looking for a relatively quiet spot to sunbathe, head toward Golfe de Calvi. While no less beautiful, this area is always far less crowded than the marina.
Thrill to a range of water pursuits at the beach. Visit Club Nautique in front of the marina to rent kayaks, sailing boats, catamarans and windsurfing boards. The club also provides lessons and courses for all ages. There is also a company at Calvi Beach that rents out Jet Skis.
Divers are well catered for with the diving centers that operate from the marina. There are classes and excursions for all ability levels, from beginners to instructors. Trips for more experienced divers can also be organized. Go diving among corals and to the wreck of a World War II bomber that crashed into the sea in 1944.
Take part in some of the sporting activities, including beach tennis and volleyball. If you simply want a pleasant stroll, there is a boardwalk situated between the beach and the pine forest.
Calvi Beach is no more than a gentle stroll from the town center. The calm, warm waters are particularly rewarding if you have spent the morning walking up to the citadel.
