On site is a 24-hour English speaking reception, hairdresser, beauty salon, etc. Across the road from the complex is the popular Bonanza Square, with its many and varied restaurants, bars, cafes and entertainment. Minerva complex is just a 15-min taxi ride from Malaga airport. Benalmadena Costa: Benalmadena is split into two sections with Benalmadena Costa the part of most interest to the many tourists who visit this popular Costa del Sol resort every year. The resort lies 15km south west of Malaga airport between the resorts of Fuengirola and Torremolinos. Benalmadena Costa is a coastal resort extending 8km along the coast which climbs up into mountains behind. The cable car from the coast up to the top of the mountain is a worthwhile trip. Benalmadena has more than 8km of blue flag beaches some of which are in small coves. A lot of work is carried out to maintain the cleanliness of the Costa Del Sols beaches. There are sun loungers and shades available for rent on the beaches as well as water sports available. Small bars and cafes line the flat promenade, which streches to Benalmadea Marina. Above Benalmadena Costa on the side of the mountain is Benalmadena Pueblo which is an attractive traditional Spanish Village. Entertainment in Benalmadena Costa: There's plenty of entertainment to amuse children, parents and grandparents alike. If you want to venture away from the swimming pool at Minerva and the beautiful local beaches Tivoli World amusement park is in nearby Arroyo de la Miel and has Wild West and flamenco shows and a cable-car ride. Equally popular are the Selwo Marina Dolphinarium and the Sealife Centre which has the biggest shark collection in Europe. There are water-sports facilities at the yacht club and plenty of golf courses in the vicinity. The stunning Benalmadena Marina is well worth the walk or short taxi ride from Minerva, during the day its a haven for everyone. During the night the Marina attracts the younger crowd who visit the many night clubs, many of which stay open all night! Locally the area surrounding the Minerva Complex is more geared towards families, although it offers many and varied bars, cafes, restaurants & entertainment it has a policy of no music to be played outside after midnight. Places to visit near Benalmadena Costa: The most popular excursions from Benalmadena include Marbella, Fuengirola, especially on market day, and Mijas. From Benalmadena Marina you can walk all the way along a flat promenade to Torremolinos with plenty of bars and restaurants on the way for refreshment. Slightly further afield are the Caves of Nerja and Malaga city tour. Full day tours are available to Granada to visit the Alhambra Palace, Seville, Cordoba, Ronda, Gibraltar and even Tangier in Morocco. If you don't fancy a scheduled coach tour or driving, you can always find a taxi for local outings and there are regular coastal bus services up and down the coast. The local train station is just a ten min walk from Minerva in Arroyo de la Miel, from which you can travel the length of the coast from Malaga right down to Gibraltar, the trains are excellent value for money. The trains leave for Malaga city every 30 mins, it’s well worth the effort to see the Moorish ruins of the Gibralfaro and the new Picasso museum.
