Avalon State Park Tours and Activities

One overnight stay with a beach view. Struggled to figure out where to check in on the property. Beach view was from the living room of the suite, but not the bedroom. Our bedroom window looked out on the hallway next to the elevators. I called to politely ask if a room change was possible to be able to see the beach from the bed which is what I thought I was paying for. Staff was a little rude and took a long time to see if anything else was available, only to tell us nothing was, even though property seemed relatively empty. Pool facilities were supposed to be available until 10pm. We went down to use the hot tub around 9pm. There were no towels, no towel attendant, and ugly netting up on a construction area right next to the hot tub. Pool bathrooms were already locked. The room was average, could use some touch up paint. We were encouraged to park in the “parking garage” under the building. The ceiling was so low that our truck almost didn’t fit. Room was clean, pillows were comfortable, mattress was decent. TV was extremely slow to respond to the remote. I doubt I would stay here again.

Had a comfortable stay at this property. We checked in on Sat night, Dec 28, person working the front desk was in the lobby bar/lounge, very friendly security guard welcomed us and said this person will be right with us. We waited a bit, the person did come and take care of our check-in but he was anything but welcoming. He actually never even addressed us, I did all the talking, at one point I thought he was completely ignoring me.Had some difficulty finding our reservation , did find it and have us a sheet of paper to read about the hotel and area. I asked about restaurants and he says to look at the paper he gave me. Very rude. You only get one chance to make a first impression and this was not a good one, especially for what it was costing us to stay here. On top of that, the lounge/bar is open to the lobby and the music was so loud we could barely hear him when he did talk to us. Very nightclub atmosphere. All restaurants were closed but the time we finished checking on and we luckily were still able to order something from Uber eats. The front desk clerk attitude was what we found our whole stay, none of the staff very friendly. I expected much more from a hotel charging over $350/night??

We had a very nice stay at The Pointe Hotel. Two things stuck out for us: 1. We got a call when the room was ready and the room was ready quite early. This was very welcome. 2. The other was the desk person Evan. He was very friendly with helpful restaurant suggestions, working with us to extend our stay, and even some county history. He was a bright spot in a bright experience.
