"Shephard's met all of our expectations. Parking was convenient. Check-in was a breeze. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a great view. We were there over a weekend and we were not affected by the live music or nightclub noise that others have mentioned. Plenty of beach chairs to reserve and water activities to do. The staff were all very polite, attentive, and courteous. "

"This brand new addition to Opal Sands is wonderful. The pool areas are fun and heavily staffed for towels and drinks when your heart desires. Rooms are well thought out and the views are some of the best on Clearwater Beach."

"I was worried after seeing recent reviews of this hotel, but since most of them weren’t on a site that verifies that the writer actually stayed here, I’m assuming there is a disgruntled former employee or something or the sort. Anyway! The property IS older. It has a few quirks. However, the lobby was spotless and inviting, the staff was kind and helpful, our room was clean, everything worked and we enjoyed our stay. The view leaves something to be desired but we were in town for hockey and had no need for a great view, otherwise we would have booked elsewhere. We used the airport shuttle and the driver was quick and courteous. Bottom line, if you need a clean, comfy place to stay for a couple nights, pick this hotel and ignore the dubious reviews. "
