The Highlander is a perfect hotel for exploring Amsterdam. The tram is about a couple of minutes walking from the hotel. Amsterdam Centraal Station is about 13 minutes waling and only 5 minutes via tram from the hotel. Anne Frank House is about 10 minutes walking also. The hotel offers breakfast buffet, is very clean and the staff are genuinely hospitable. There are many options for shopping and a variety of restaurants to choose from close to and around the hotel. The only thing is that the hotel lobby is accessible by going down a short flight of stairs, which may be inconvenient for those who are handicapped or have a lot of luggages. Other than that, the hotel is awesome!

This was a very beautiful and well located hotel. We had a layover in Amsterdam and spent the night here. Walked everywhere while we were here. Check in process was quick aMs smooth. The staff provided restaurant recommendations and were very pleasant throughout our stay. Triple room was spacious with upgraded amenities. When we return to Amsterdam for a full trip, we will definitely stay here again.

Trendy hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel is walkable to everything. We had our son, under 1 years old, with us and a cot was available for him. Our family will stay here again when visiting Amsterdam next.

The property was nice and very centrally located, but the rooms were 'minimalist' meaning that there were very few surfaces to put stuff. No bedside tables, no bathroom (sink in the bedroom, separate toilet stall, shower around a corner). It was hard to settle in without ways to unpack. But the staff was nice. It's a very noisy location, but we slept fine anyway.

Good hotel. Just a bit cheap to raise expectations saying everything in the mini bar was free but then to find out there was one bottle of water for each of us, two mini bottles of soda pop, one small bag of mini Doritos and one Halloween, snack size snickers bar. For such a fancy hotel, that looked cheap. Sounds small but put a downer on the experience for sure.

I do want to start by highlighting the staff as they were friendly and helpful. To be honest, this hotel was not worth the price I paid. In terms of location, the hotel was walking distance to most places which was very convenient. The issues I had revolved around cleanliness and the room. The shower is weirdly designed so when you take a hot shower the humidity circulates the room. It was unbearable to get ready at times as it was extremely hot. We then realized the vent above our shower was not working - we asked the hotel to send someone to fix it which they did. After fixing the vent, we asked to have our room clean specifically the shower as the repair man was stepping in our shower with his shoes as well as fallen debris from the ceiling when he repaired the vent. The hotel assured us that the cleaning staff would ensure a clean shower upon our return. A few hours later, we returned to the room to refresh for the evening and of course, the shower had no been clean, all of our empty bottles were still in the room, and the bed was made in a very rushed manner. Granted, I was upset but had no time to wait for someone to clean it. The next morning we went to breakfast and were gone for a few hours, we returned to our room in the afternoon and it still had not been cleaned. I called the reception to ensure we would have our room cleaned as well as removing the days old garbage and bottles. At last on our second to last day - they finally cleaned but the shower was not.
