"Hotel is very stylish and modern, with a central location for coastline, bars and restaurants. The rooftop bar and pool has fantastic views over the area. All areas of the hotel are spotless. "This was our third stay here at Quintinha São João. It really feels like the most wonderful home away from home rather than a hotel. You're made to feel so welcome and looked after by the most dedicated and friendly staff. I can't imagine anywhere else in Funchal coming even close to this place. And it's all mostly because of the staff too. They can't do enough for you. Everyone from the reception staff to the serving staff to the cleaners and the spa staff made us once again feel so welcomed...

"We had a great stay. The facilities were very good, the restaurants were all nice, in particular the a la carte in the Manor House was excellent. The pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym were always available when we want them. The gardens were lovely and the view to the city was beautiful. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others"

"The hotel is above a shopping centre without any grounds around the hotel, however, it is in an excellent location within easy walking distance to the old town. All the staff were very helpful throughout our stay. The bedroom was sleek and modern with an ‘open plan’ shower/wash area. The beds were very comfortable with 3 different pillows varying from soft to firm. There are no views other than from the rooftop swimming pool and bar area but this didn’t significantly detract from the stay as we were out most of the time. The breakfast buffet was excellent with good quality ingredients and freshly squeezed orange juice. We were also amused by the mobile robot which took the dirty dishes back to the kitchen. Overall the hotel lives up to it’s 5 star billing, is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend a stay at the Vine the next time you are in Funchal."
