"Staying at Shirley’s Retreat truly felt like being welcomed into the family. The employees go above and beyond to make you feel at home, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The hotel offers all the basic necessities, ensuring a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was the food from Maurva's Kitchen—absolutely amazing! I highly recommend trying the local cuisine; you will not be disappointed. The hotel is in a safe, walkable area with plenty of restaurants nearby, and food delivery is also an option if you prefer to dine in. While there isn't a microwave in the room, there is one available downstairs, along with coffee, tea, and hot water. The hotel also sells water and cold drinks at very reasonable prices. Another great perk is the location—it's within walking distance of the Bob Marley Museum, and the hotel staff is happy to assist with getting a taxi if needed. The property itself is quiet, quaint, and surrounded by beautiful fruit trees, adding to its charm. Despite making a confirmed reservation and arriving after 7 PM, I had to wait approximately two hours for the security personnel to verify that I had already paid. This was an unnecessary delay that could have been avoided with better communication and preparation. Additionally, I was not informed in advance about the requirement for a deposit for the room key and remote control, which caused further inconvenience. Upon being assigned a room, I was disheartened to find that it was not cleaned, the television was non-functional, and the Wi-Fi was inaccessible. Due to these issues, I had to request a room change. Moreover, the surrounding area seemed unsafe, with a notable risk of encountering incidents like robbery, which heightened my concern for personal safety. I hope the management will address these issues promptly to ensure future guests have a more positive experience. A focus on improving communication, room readiness, and safety measures would significantly enhance overall guest satisfaction."
