Peaceful home, on the Oswegatchie River

Family friendly house on the Oswegatchie River. The house is located on a side street in the city of Ogdensburg. Some of the other surrounding homes are in need of repair, however, once you step into our house you have found an unexpected hidden gem. You no longer know you’re in the small city. Our neighbors are middle aged to elderly folks whom we know by name. Lots of space for everyone to enjoy. Step out back to enjoy the sun. Enjoy a nice day of fishing or kayaking. Set in the screened in patio and just take in the views. At night you can set on the deck to visit or set around the fire pit. Step inside and have a drink at the bar. Cook up a meal in the full kitchen. Curl up on the couch on a chilly day and enjoy a movie in front of the fireplace.

Not handicap friendly
The home was clean, but the rooms were dark and the layout was cut up and choppy. Worse than that is the neighborhood where the home is. There are junk cars parked in the driveway next to the house, and the whole street looks like the hood. Further, the stairs to get to the one bathroom upstairs are extremely steep, narrow, and dark. We had planned on staying three nights, but left within 9 hours of arriving just because my elderly mother could not possibly stay there safely, and I did not feel safe in the neighborhood.

Spacious Rental
The rental was very spacious and there was plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed our time outdoors on the lake and by the fire pit. I would stay there again.
